Abstract

In Around the Moon, Verne displays unparalleled creativity by introducing multiple technological ideas rarely or never seen before in the scientific or other literature. Their origin therefore remains mysterious, and it can only be speculated that the novelist's first cousin, Henri Garcet, an eminent mathematician, may have contributed to it.
